I obtained my PhD degree in Asian Studies from the University of Haifa in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Rotem Kowner and Dr. Guy Podoler. In my PhD dissertation I explored the mechanisms behind the global dissemination of Japanese and Korean martial arts in the 20th-21st centuries and offered a new perspective on this process. My PhD research was conducted within the framework of the Asian Sphere Program, which is an international, interdisciplinary graduate program carried out by the University of Haifa and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The participation in this program helped me to look at Asia as a continent with its internal logic, interconnections and regularities as opposed to a random collection of disconnected nations. It also provided me with a wide range of analytical tools and research methods which I continue to use in my current research. Upon graduation I conducted postdoctoral research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and am currently working as a Korean language instructor at the Department of East Asian Studies, Tel Aviv University. At the same time, I continue to study Asia, mainly contemporary Korea and Japan. The results of my studies are presented at Israeli and international conferences and published with international peer-reviewed journals.
